Dr Joseph Veramu, the Fiji National University (FNU) Director of Strategic Planning and Development, holds a PhD in Social Science/Geography Curriculum Differentiation from the University of the South Pacific (USP, 2007), a Master of Science in Environmental Science Education and Development Studies from London South Bank University, UK (1999), a Master of Philosophy in Non-Formal Education and Community Development from USP (1991), and a Bachelor of Education from USP (1984).

He began his career as a high school teacher and later served as a Lecturer in Education at USP. He went on to become the Head of Continuing Education (now Pacific Technical and Further Education [TAFE]) and Director of USP Lautoka Campus. His extensive professional journey includes roles at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

At FNU, Dr Veramu has served as a Part-Time Consultant at the College of Humanities, Education, and Law (CHEL), where he focused on higher education research, formulating annual work plans, monitoring and evaluation, and securing grants for CHEL projects.

His wealth of academic and leadership experience will be instrumental in supporting the University’s strategic and corporate goals.
