Professor Atul Kumar Raturi is the current Dean of the College of Engineering, Technical, and Vocational Education and Training (CETVET).

Professor Raturi brings extensive expertise in renewable energy and sustainable development. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, awarded in 1984, and has over 35 years of international academic and professional experience.

From 2007 to 2023, Professor Raturi served at the University of the South Pacific (USP), where he also held the position of Head of the School of Engineering and Physics. He has held adjunct appointments at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, and has made significant contributions in research, teaching, policy advising, and capacity building across the Pacific Islands.

During his tenure at USP, Professor Raturi initiated research on dye-sensitized solar cells using locally sourced organic dyes. He also introduced simulation studies on renewable energy–based hybrid systems through the use of software such as RETScreen, HOMER, and PVSyst. His recent research focuses on long-term energy planning using the LEAP platform, renewable energy integration into island grids, and advancing energy for sustainable development in the Pacific region. Notably, he contributed to the development of Fiji’s Long-Term Energy Planning Strategy (LEDS), which involved designing decarbonization scenarios and modeling national energy systems. The LEDS report was officially launched in 2018 at COP 24.

Professor Raturi’s demonstrated leadership, technical expertise, and enduring commitment to sustainability strongly align with Fiji National University’s strategic priorities in sustainability, renewable energy, and vocational and technical education.
