Prospective students and individuals interested in furthering their education at Fiji National University (FNU) are receiving guidance from academic experts on their enquires in ‘real-time’ as the first-ever Virtual Open Day enters its third day.

FNU’s College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF) Associate Dean Research Dr Deeksha Krishna said she has been busy in the open day attending to questions related to her college. According to Dr Krishna, the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of food security which has led to people starting backyard gardening and small farms.

“We had many enquiries about the study programmes offered by our College and the minimum entry requirements for the various courses. It’s been a busy week for us,” said Dr Krishna.

“Food security is important and obviously, this could be one of the many reasons that have generated interest among the people to select agriculture as a prospective field of study.”

“Online users who reached out to us through the virtual platform were not only secondary school students but individuals who want to upgrade their qualification. We have also received enquiries regarding our Masters programme which is offered either through coursework or higher degree by research,” she added.

Dr Krishna, who is the Associate Dean Research at CAFF encouraged potential students to reach out during the Virtual Open Day to attain accurate information and plan their tertiary education journey accordingly.

“FNU staff are on hand to answer specific questions and guide future students through the University admission process and much more,” said Dr. Krishna.
