  1. Campus Life

Campus Life Services is committed to providing activities that enhance the social, cultural, economic and leadership development of a diverse student population. The FNU Campus Life Unit offers a wide range of programs for students. These include:

  • Orientations
  • Let’s Connect- Students Speak on a wide range of topics.
  • Inter Campus Debate Competitions
  • University policies and procedures Training / Workshops for FNUSA
  • Student Environment Ambassador Champions Club – Sustainability Projects

  1. Residential Life / Welfare/Sports & Wellness

(I) The Residential Life unit is responsible for coordinating activities that enrich student experiences at the halls of residence. We facilitate programs creating a fun-filled atmosphere for our residential students. Our programs include:

  • Hostel Orientation         
  • Drugs and Substance Abuse Awareness
  • Movie nights 
  • Residential Talanoa Session

(ii) The Welfare unit is committed to promoting wellness in all aspects of a student’s life, be it emotional, intellectual, social or spiritual. The Department offers programs designed to empower students to live and to advocate healthier, more balanced and meaningful life.  Our programs to name a few include:

  • Transportation to attend Academic related programs/Funerals/
  • Student-related policy awareness

(iii) The Student Sports Unit strives to promote physical wellness, team spirit and commitment amongst all students of the Fiji National University through its range of sporting programs that includes:

  • Inter Campus Games
  • Fiji University Sports Association (FUSA) games
  • Coaching Clinic

The FNU Student Sports Unit offers a wide range of sports for students that includes but is not limited to the following sports:

  • Rugby        
  • Soccer
  • Netball       
  • Volleyball
  • Hockey      
  • Badminton
  1. Disability Services

The Disability Unit endeavours to serve as a resource-center which advocates equal access to learning and working for students with special needs. This involves setting up a user-friendly environment with specially designed facilities to improve accessibility to those with special needs. Some Services provided under the Disability Unit are:

  • Pre-enrollment guidance and support with enrolment
  • Note taking services Readers Academic practical assistants and sign interpreters
  • Moving of lecture and/or tutorial locations when dealing with accessibility issues
  • Provision of assistive technology 
  • Liaising with academic staff in relation to reasonable adjustments
  • Consultation to students with disability in order to identify reasonable adjustments suitable to their requirements Integrated campus life activities
  • Inclusive Sports Workshop
  • Disability Awareness Workshop

The Career Services unit facilitates programs with the aim of enhancing the personal skills of students enabling increased chances of employability. Services offered by careers placement include:

  1. Counselling

Counselling is an opportunity to talk about and explore the problems and difficulties that people encounter in everyday life. You are guaranteed a safe, comfortable and confidential space to talk freely and to be listened to with understanding, respect and care.

       Counselling Services

It is a free, voluntary & confidential service.

  • Is to help you gain understanding and insight into the difficulties faced.
  • Is to identify, modify & strengthen your own personal resources and cope.
  • Is to assist & enable you to fulfil your personal & academic potential.
  • Provides unconditional acceptance.
  • Provides an opportunity to be heard empathetically.

         Some reasons to seek counselling:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Behavioural problems like relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, overcoming bad habits, difficulties faced with adjustment in university & issues related to study.
  • Or any other reason of your own.

       Confidentiality:

All information shared in counselling is held in strict confidence and is not shared with anyone without your consent.

  1. Uni-clinic

       Locations

The UniClinic is located at 2 locations:

  1. Nasinu Uniclinic                        – located in the FNU Nasinu Campus
  2. Natabua Uniclinic                      – located in the Natabua, Lautoka Campus.

      Services Provided are:

  •  Free Medical Consultations

Students can consult with the University General Practitioner for their medical ailments, however students will need to present the doctors prescriptions to an outside Pharmacy and purchase their own medications as Government Health Center Pharmacies will not accept outside prescriptions.

(If Blood Tests, X-Rays and Ultrasound Scans are required for diagnostic purposes, then students will be advised to attend the nearest Health Center instead)

  • Dressings

       Dressings for Minor Wounds and Soft Tissue Injuries

  • Sexual Health Counselling and STI Testing
  • Confidential Sexual Health Counselling
  • STI Testing or STI Clinic Referral if Necessary.
  • Free Male and Female Condoms. (Condom Dispensers situated at the Reception area of Uniclinic)
  • Free Blood Pressure Checks
  • Free Weight, Height and BMI Checks
  • Immigration Medicals for Overseas Students
  1. Fiji National University Student Financial Aid Program

The Fiji National University Student Financial Aid Program is open to all privately enrolled undergraduate students at FNU.

       Who is eligible to apply?

FNU Student Financial Aid Program provides part-time employment while the student is enrolled in the University in an undergraduate programme to help pay his or her tuition fees.

Entry is open to all privately enrolled undergraduate students at FNU who have paid the mandatory enrolment fees and enrolled in programmes (Diploma & Bachelor) with a full load.

To be considered, the applicant must have applied for the Student Financial Aid program and met the following conditions:

  • Be a Fiji Citizen.
  • Be privately funded.
  • Applicant should not have any disciplinary cases.
  • Combined household income of less than $30,000.
  1. FNU Bursary Scheme

The Fiji National University Student Bursary Scheme provides financial assistance to full-time local private students who have enrolled into any undergraduate bachelor’s degree programme or Postgraduate Studies programme at FNU in 2024.

      Who is eligible to apply?

Entry is open to all enrolled students at FNU who have paid the mandatory enrolment fees and enrolled in a bachelor’s degree programme or a postgraduate programme with a full load (60 credit points).

To be considered, the applicant must have applied to the Student Bursary Scheme and met the following conditions:

  • Be a Fiji Citizen.
  • Must have obtained a high school passing mark (Year 13) and have a minimum of 60% pass in each subject with the aligned to the respective discipline.
  • Continuing students to have obtained an average of B.
  • Postgraduate students should have a minimum average GPA of 3.0 and above in their undergraduate degree programme.
  • Must not receive any other scholarship at the time of application and during the study.
  • Combined household salary of less than $30,000.
  • Applicant should not have any disciplinary cases.
  • Applicant should not have any outstanding fees or fines.
