Students pursuing Hairdressing at the Fiji National University.
Aspiring hairdressers residing in the Northern Division, will soon have an opportunity to secure a qualification through the Fiji National University’s (FNU) Certificate in Hairdressing (Level 3) programme.
The programme which falls under the FNU’s College of Humanities, Education and Law (CHEL) will now be offered at the Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere Campus in Labasa from Semester 1, 2027.
The programme will initially accommodate a limited intake of 15 applicants.
Hairdressing instructor, Ms Jioje Aisea highlighted that for the University, it meant giving back to the people of the North.
“This is a great opportunity for CHEL and for FNU as we intend to sustain the course and further venture into other avenues for our hairdressing and beauty therapy programmes. The students do not need to worry about traveling to Viti Levu now, as this programme will be readily available soon for them,” said Ms Aisea.
She added that the students will achieve hairdressing skills and be exposed to endless opportunities.
“The students will gain professional skills in cutting, colouring, styling, blow-drying, learn from industry professionals, develop the confidence and expertise to work in the industry, achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification and potentially work in salons, do freelance, session styling, or even run their own business someday,” Ms Aisea further stated.
