The Fiji National University’s (FNU) Ba Campus successfully hosted its inaugural Market Day yesterday.

The Head of Campus-Ba, Niraj Dharmendra in his address stated that the initiative to have a Market Day was introduced by FNU’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba.

“In recognising the potential of the students at FNU’s Ba Campus, Professor Nabobo-Baba envisioned a platform where students could showcase their talents, bring their ideas to life, and gain valuable experiences beyond the classroom”.

“This initiative also carries a greater purpose, to support our students through the FNU Foundation, which continues to provide assistance to students who require support in pursuing their educational goals,” he said.

The Special Administrator for the Ba Town Council, Moshim Khan, who officiated at the event highlighted that, FNU has always stood as a beacon of knowledge and opportunity for students and staff.

“What we witness here today is the power of education in action. It is proof that when we nurture curiosity and passion, we empower young people to become not just graduates, but leaders, creators, and entrepreneurs who will shape the growth of our nation,” Mr Khan stated.

He added that the participation and support shown by the students and stakeholders created a platform where ideas could flourish and where businesses could grow.

“The Market Day is more than an exhibition, it is a platform where imagination meets opportunity,” reiterated Mr Khan. The FNU Market Day, which was held under the theme ‘Celebrating Students’ Passion and Creativity,’ featured live music, fresh fruits and vegetables, delicious homemade food and pastries, handcrafted items, and a variety of other unique products.

The event brought together 17 stakeholders, including students and staff from the University’s College of Engineering, Technical Vocational Education and Training (CETVET), College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF), the FNU Foundation, and the National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC).

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting students in need through the Fiji National University’s charitable arm, the FNU Foundation.
