FNU, REALB Sign Landmark MOU to Strengthen Real Estate Sector

Press Release Posted On: July 9, 2026

The partnership establishes a framework for the development and delivery of industry-focused education and professional development programmes for licensed real estate practitioners.

The Fiji National University (FNU), through its National Training and Productivity Centre (NTPC), and the Real Estate Agents Licensing Board (REALB) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen professional standards, build industry capability and enhance productivity across Fiji’s real estate sector.

The partnership establishes a framework for the development and delivery of industry-focused education and professional development programmes that will equip licensed real estate practitioners with the knowledge, practical skills and ethical competencies required to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Speaking at the signing, the Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Honourable Esrom Immanuel, stated that the partnership reflected the Coalition Government’s commitment to investing in people and strengthening industries that contribute to Fiji’s long-term economic development.

“While the signing of an agreement is significant in itself, what matters even more is the purpose behind it. Today is not simply about formalising a partnership. It is about investing in people, strengthening institutions and laying the foundation for a more professional, accountable and future-ready real estate sector.”

“The objective should not simply be to satisfy minimum licensing requirements. The objective should be to cultivate professionals whose competence, ethics and service inspire public trust and confidence. When trust grows within one profession, the positive effects are felt across the wider economy,” said Hon. Immanuel.

Chairperson, Real Estate Agents Licensing Board, Dr Ilimotama Cawi

REALB Chairperson, Dr Ilimotama Cawi, added the partnership marked a significant milestone in the Board’s commitment to advancing the profession.

“This partnership is not a regulatory burden, it is an investment in the skills of our practitioners, their professional standing and the trust the public places in them,” Dr Cawi stated.

NTPC’s Director of Productivity and Innovation, Bob Mitchell, said NTPC remained committed to developing a workforce that drives productivity, organisational performance, and national development.

“At NTPC, we firmly believe organisations grow when their people grow. Through this partnership, we are creating opportunities for continuous learning, professional growth and improved organisational performance that will ultimately benefit businesses, professionals, and the wider community,” elaborated Mr Mitchell.

The MOU lays the foundation for a structured Real Estate Education Programme and Continuing Professional Development framework, strengthening consumer confidence, improving industry standards, and supporting a more productive, ethical, and trusted real estate sector in Fiji.
