Naiyaca Campus continues to make steady progress, with students now using newly established temporary learning spaces

The Fiji National University’s Naiyaca Campus continues to make steady progress, with students now using newly established temporary learning spaces.
Students have transitioned into temporary classrooms, ensuring that teaching and learning continues without disruption. The campus is also equipped with a Foundation Hub and student support centre which is expected to open soon.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba said the progress reflects the University’s strong commitment to its students and to expanding access to education.
“Our priority is to ensure that learning continues in a safe and supportive environment. While these are temporary facilities, they represent our determination to keep education accessible and uninterrupted for our students,” Professor Nabobo-Baba said.
“This is only the beginning. The developments at Naiyaca Campus signal a much bigger vision to bring quality education closer to our Vualiku communities, particularly in rural and maritime areas.”
Looking ahead, the University is preparing for the groundbreaking ceremony of the new permanent campus infrastructure, scheduled for the end of August. This milestone will mark the next phase of development and long-term investment in the campus.
Professor Nabobo-Baba added that the progress brings renewed optimism for the surrounding communities.
“There are good times ahead for Vualiku. This campus will continue to grow and create more opportunities for our people, our youth, and future generations.”
The development at Naiyaca also supports the broader Vualiku Project, which focuses on strengthening infrastructure and services in Vanua Levu. The Naiyaca Campus is a key part of this vision, bringing education closer to the people and contributing to long-term National development.
The University hopes to move to Savusavu and Taveuni soon.
