The Fiji National University (FNU) is proud to announce the successful accreditation of 15 Micro-qualifications by the Educational Quality & Assessment Programme (EQAP) under the Pacific Community (SPC). This significant milestone underscores FNU’s commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education that aligns with national development priorities.
The accredited courses, developed by FNU’s Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) this year, span Levels 3 to 7 across vital sectors such as ICT, Office Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Baking and Patisserie Skills, as well as Ayurveda Massage and Facial Treatments. These Micro-qualifications are designed to be accessible to the public, each with its own specific Minimum Entry Requirement (MER), offering flexible pathways for learners eager to upskill or reskill.
This accreditation aligns directly with FNU’s Strategic Plan — Pillar 1: Education for Employability — which supports Fiji’s National Development Plan (NDP). The plan emphasises the importance of tertiary education that is responsive to current and emerging labour market needs.
“The accreditation of these Micro-qualifications is a testament to FNU’s dedication to fostering practical and industry-aligned learning opportunities. It ensures our graduates are equipped with the skills that are in high demand, contributing directly to Fiji’s economic growth and development,” FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba said.
“By expanding our accredited offerings, FNU is positioning itself as a leader in innovative, accessible education that meets the evolving demands of our society. This not only benefits our students but also strengthens our nation’s workforce and economic resilience.”
In addition to celebrating this achievement, FNU is pleased to announce that a further set of 51 short courses is currently in the pipeline for accreditation. These courses are designed to broaden educational access and respond to emerging sectors and industry needs, reinforcing FNU’s commitment to lifelong learning and skill development.
FNU’s strategic focus on quality, relevance, and accessibility continues to pave the way for a more skilled and adaptable workforce, aligning educational initiatives with Fiji’s national priorities and future growth.
