A team from the Fiji National University (FNU) participated in the Ministry of Education’s inaugural National Qualification Certificate Level 3 Graduation Ceremony in Nadi earlier this month.

The graduation ceremony held at Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) brought together students, teachers, and parents to celebrate a significant milestone—the certification of the first cohort of Level 3 graduates. A total of 79 students successfully completed the Certificate Level 3 programmes.

Graduates from SVC, Penang Sangam Vocational Centre, and Tavua College are now eligible to apply for Certificate Level 4 programmes in their respective disciplines, which include carpentry, automotive engineering, agriculture, fabrication and welding, as well as baking and patisserie.

Several graduates left the ceremony with immediate Offer Letters from the Fiji National University (FNU), paving the way for their continued academic and professional advancement.

Chief Guest and Director of Technical Vocational Education and Training, Isoa Tauribau, proudly shared with the graduates that he began his career as a carpenter and worked his way up to his current leadership role.

“People say that education is the key, we say that TVET is the master key,” said Tauribau.

“The national qualification that you will receive today is not only just a certificate, but it is a testament and passport to future opportunities.”

Proud graduate, Marvin Naicker was the first student to receive an Offer Letter from the FNU booth to pursue a Certificate 4 in Carpentry.

The 18-year-old is a student of Penang Sangam Vocational Centre where he earned his Certificate 3 in Carpentry.

“I want to continue in the footsteps of my uncle and become a successful carpenter.”
