1. FNU Research Symposium 2025 – [30 September 2025]
This is an inaugural research symposium for FNU, that brings together researchers, academics, and industry partners to present and discuss current research projects, innovations, and findings. The theme of the event is ‘Inter-Disciplinary Solutions to National Challenges’. The symposium will feature keynote speakers, presentation and poster display. It provides an opportunity for networking, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.
2. ACIAR PASS Workshop (1-3 September 2025)
The workshop is organised under the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR), Pacific Agriculture Scholarships and Support (PASS) program to design the next phase of the program. With ACIAR, USP, and FNU demonstrating growing capability, the next PASS design offers a chance to strengthen a three-way partnership. It will enhance local leadership, support the universities’ expanding management roles, and better align with shared priorities, including Australia’s International Development Policy. Participants will engage in group discussions focusing on the development of the core components of the program design.
3. USP and FNU Joint R Software – Phase 2 Training
A collaborative training initiative between the USP and FNU. This second phase will advance participants’ skills in R programming for statistical analysis and data visualisation. Topics will include advanced coding techniques, data cleaning, statistical modelling, and automated reporting using R packages.
4. Masterclass in Research Higher Degree Supervision (PACT)
This workshop under the PACT (Pacific Action for Climate Transitions), a joint research centre between FNU and Monash University is designed for academic supervisors of graduate research students. It covers effective supervision strategies, mentorship techniques, ethical considerations, and approaches to fostering student success throughout the research journey.
5. Masterclass in Research Skills – Project Design, Data Analysis & Publications (PACT)

6. University of Queensland (UQ)-FNU -USP Workshop – 05 September 2025
This one-day validation workshop builds on the initial two-day session held in June. It will confirm the shared vision for Fiji’s agri-food system by validating priority crops, livestock systems, and enabling components; reviewing the stakeholder map; and ensuring the accuracy of thematic maps. A key outcome will be a collaborative research proposal involving ACIAR, USP, FNU, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways, targeting potential funding partners.
7. PIVOT Training
A practical workshop designed to familiarize participants with the PIVOT research funding database and platform. Attendees will learn how to search for funding opportunities, set up alerts, manage funding proposals, and use the platform’s collaboration tools to connect with potential research partners globally.
8. Seminars / Webinars
A series of academic and professional development presentations will be held either in-person or virtually. These sessions will cover a wide range of research-related topics such as emerging technologies, ethics in research, grant management, and field-specific innovations. It will feature invited speakers from local, regional, and international institutions.
