FNU’s Natabua Campus Hosts 7th Art Exhibition

The Fiji National University’s (FNU) Department of Secondary and Sports Science at Natabua Campus hosted its seventh Art Exhibition last week.

The Department of Secondary and Sports Science falls under the FNU’s College of Humanities, Education and Law.

A total of eleven students took part in this exhibition, successfully showcasing their works of art at the annual event.

Chief Guest and the Head of School, School of Education, Vilive Cagivinaka highlighted that the event was a true celebration of creativity, discipline, and academic achievement by all students together with their dedicated lecturers, Perry Gabriel, and Samuela Nabolaniwaqa.

The artworks have been placed at the campus’ dining space, normally used as an ideal location for having a meal or sharing a conversation.

“Our dining space has come to life with the addition of the beautiful artworks created by our talented students and academics. This space is where we come together to share a meal or a conversation, and with these new pieces on display, I’m sure both our stories and meals will feel even more enjoyable,” said Cagivinaka.

“Every piece created reflects a unique story, a personal journey, and a growing mastery of craft. I commend each student for their hard work, courage, and willingness to share their art.

“Here at Natabua Campus, we’re lucky to be surrounded by art everywhere we go.”

He said past artworks were also gifted to VIP guests, placed in boardrooms and even in office spaces.

The 11 students that made the Art Exhibition happen.

He encouraged the students to continue the good work in crafting.

Gabriel added that past artworks have also been gifted by the FNU to prominent persons such as Fiji’s Prime Minister, Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka, the Minister for Health, Honourable Dr Ratu Atonio Rabici Lalabalavu, including hospitals around the country.

“The students work long hours into the nights and into the weekends and we are here to honor these 11 students,” he added.

Academics view the artworks on display during the Art Exhibition at Natabua Campus.

Year 3 student, Kunal Chand said showcasing his artwork to the wider community was a dream come true.

“This was an exciting experience for me, especially having to share carving ideas with my colleagues,” he said.
