More than 20 teachers from the Northern Division participated in the Fiji National University (FNU) Career Teachers’ Workshop, held at the FNU Naduna Campus in Labasa today.
The career teachers were encouraged to think creatively and actively explore new methods to enhance career guidance in their respective schools.
Head of Naduna Campus, Dr Taraivini Raiula, reminded the teachers that their role extends beyond teaching subjects; it involves shaping minds, instilling values, and preparing students for a world full of opportunities and challenges.
“Let us continue to learn, adapt, and innovate. Our efforts will not only impact students’ lives but will also contribute to the growth and development of society,” Dr Raiula stated.
“Together, let us build a future where every student is equipped with the right tools, knowledge, and confidence to pursue a career that aligns with their potential and aspirations.”
Dr Raiula also expressed gratitude to the organisers of the workshop for creating a platform
where knowledge is shared, ideas are exchanged, and new strategies for enhancing career guidance can be developed.
Remavini Wati Tunabuna, a career teacher from Navatu Secondary School in Cakaudrove, expressed her gratitude to FNU for the opportunity to participate in the workshop.
“I have been a career teacher for several years, and this is the first workshop I have attended. I am grateful for the opportunity, as I have received the prospectuses and can now better guide my students on the Minimum Entry Requirements (MER) and the appropriate subject
combinations aligned with their desired career pathways,” said Tunabuna.
“This workshop is highly beneficial for our students, and I strongly encourage other career teachers to take part since this is done annually. It has certainly been an eye-opening experience.”
The Special Education Teachers’ Workshop will be held tomorrow.
