The Fiji National University’s Naduna Campus in Labasa will open its doors to prospective students and the public at its annual Open Day from 03 October to 04 October 2024.

The Open Day will provide an opportunity for individuals to explore academic programmes, engage with faculty, and learn about campus life.

The exciting event offers a unique opportunity for secondary school students and the community to explore the diverse academic programmes and vibrant campus life that FNU has to offer.

Attendees will be able to engage with faculty members, current students, and staff, gaining valuable insights into the university’s commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Head of Campus, Pardeep Lal, said the Naduna Campus Open Day will serve as a platform to showcase the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, research, and community engagement. This annual event has become a well-established tradition, providing prospective students with an opportunity to experience firsthand the dynamic academic environment offered at the campus.

“Secondary school students will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of interactive exhibits and demonstrations across the campus. Encompassing science, technology, arts, and humanities, each department will showcase engaging displays of their respective fields,” Lal said.

“We have recently seen huge demand in Hospitality and Tourism and Agriculture programmes. We strongly promote such programmes at our campus.”

“Prospective students and their parents will have the opportunity to engage in individual consultations with academic staff and current students. These meetings will facilitate in-depth discussions about academic programmes, career opportunities, and campus life.”

Lal said that this year again, the campus will host the Open Day for two consecutive days to allow the students and people from the communities to make the most of the Open Day and learn as much as possible.

“We intend to invite relevant stakeholders such as TSLS, Consumer Council of Fiji, EFL, Fiji Traders and other important stakeholders to be part of our open day. We further intend to invite the provincial council reps to our campus to explore how fresh high school graduates and dropouts in rural, remote and maritime communities around Vanua Levu can attain tertiary education, especially since there are several TVET programmes that are available at Labasa campus,” revealed Lal.

He added that the event will generate enthusiasm and anticipation among prospective students, providing them with a clear vision of their potential future at Naduna Campus and that it represents another successful milestone in FNU’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and the community while cultivating the leaders of tomorrow.
