The Bua Youth Festival is empowering the young people of Bua to drive sustainable development through digital innovation.
Under the theme ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’, the festival kicked off today with the commemoration of International Youth Day, bringing together youth representatives from Bua, Cakaudrove, and Macuata.
Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Jese Saukuru, officially opened the festival, emphasising the crucial role of young people in shaping the future.
“Today not only acknowledges the unique challenges faced by you individuals but also highlights their pivotal role as key partners in driving positive change,” Minister Saukuru said.
Through interactive workshops and activities, the youths are exploring the transformative power of digital technology and its application to community development.
Fiji National University (FNU) is a proud supporter of the Bua Youth Festival, committed to supporting the aspirations of young people. FNU will be on-site throughout the week to provide information about its diverse range of programmes that can cater to the needs and interests of Bua’s youth.
Kinijioji Vakawaletabua, FNU Assistant Lecturer and Vice President of the Bua Youth Council, highlighted the festival’s importance as a platform for youth to connect, learn, and grow.
“This event provides an opportunity for young people to showcase their talents, share their ideas, and learn from key stakeholders like FNU about how they can contribute to a brighter future for Fiji,” Vakawaletabua said.
The Bua Youth Festival is a weeklong event facilitated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Bua Provincial Council. The festival is scheduled to end on Friday, 16 August.
