In an effort to equip Fiji’s youth with knowledge and inspiration for their future careers, the Fiji National University’s (FNU), Careers Discovery for High School Students team had an interactive session with the Year 12 and 13 students of Marist Brothers High School (MBHS) yesterday.
The campaign allowed the students and teachers to network with the academics and FNU Outreach team to explore the study opportunities available for them to pursue their careers.
Marist Brothers High School (MBHS), one of Fiji’s esteemed educational institutions, enthusiastically participated in the Careers Discovery programme with an impressive turnout. Close to 200 Year 12 students and more than 130 Year 13 students from Marist Brothers High School were part of the session.
MBHS Vice Principal, Tupou Gavidi said the programme would help students prepare for their tertiary education.
“It was a good session from the FNU team who visited and had information sessions with the students, and we had had similar sessions from FNU in the past years. Our Year 12 and Year 13 students benefited from the session,” she said.
“The students were looking forward to the visit from the FNU, who came to our doorstep to share information on the programmes and courses. The students were informed on the career paths they want to follow and what life is about in tertiary institutions.”
MBHS Deputy Head Boy, Maximillian Phillipe Benjamin Kirite said it was an exciting session.
“It was a pleasure to be part of the awareness session held by the Fiji National University at Marist Brothers High School today. Learning about all the amazing opportunities the University offers was inspiring and motivating,” he said.
“I am so thankful for the chance to gain a deeper understanding of what the Fiji National University has to offer, and it has even made us even more excited and eager to pursue and reach our dreams.”
MBHS Physical Education Teacher, and an FNU alumnus, Ignatius Vukicigau also shared how the University had contributed towards his career success. He said he was also invested in assisting the high school students in determining their study and career pathways.
“I am proud to be alumni of FNU, and it was a proud moment for me when I saw the FNU team coming over to our school to talk to the students about the opportunities available to our students,” he said.
