Press Release Posted On: June 26, 2023

The Fiji National University (FNU) resumed its Career Discovery for High School Students’ visits to secondary schools in the Central Division this morning.

Year 13 Jeremiah Raibevu College student Sione Natua said he looked forward to studying medicine at the University’s, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS).

Originally from Ra with maternal links to Nadroga, the 19-year-old student said the session made him aware of the opportunities there are for students at FNU, as well as the support services provided by the university to students to allow for a smooth transition from secondary to tertiary learning.

“Of course, I will be joining FNU. I want to study medicine next year!” Natua exclaimed.

“The Fiji National University’s Career Discovery for High School Students team’s presentation inspired me.

“The presentation made me knowledgeable of the many new support services, like how to apply and the available online services available to us. I have also become acquainted with the different Colleges and opportunities that FNU provides.”

A senior teacher at Jeremiah College in Tacirua, Kereisi Serunitu said FNU’s Career Discovery for High Students acted as a catalyst for students’ dreams and passions.

From Naitasiri, Serunitu said the session allowed the students to virtually travel to the different Colleges and see the facilities at FNU.

“From my 26 years of teaching experience, I have come across students who take different subjects in high school but take an altogether different course when they enter a tertiary institute. So this awareness will really enlighten them on the choice of careers they have.”

“This career awareness session acts like a morale-booster today for these students. Thank you for bringing the opportunity to our very young school – Jeremiah Raibevu College.
