Davuilevu Methodist High School Principal Qalo Lesi said the Career Discovery for High School Students’ initiative by the Fiji National University (FNU) was conducted at an opportune time for high school students.
Davuilevu Methodist High School Principal, Mr Qalo Lesi.
The University (FNU) conducted a Career Discovery for High School Students’ session for almost 20 Year 12 students at the Davuilevu Methodist High School yesterday. The team also visited Year 12 and 13 students at Nakasi High School, Dilkusha Methodist High School, Saraswati College, Pundit Shreedhar Maharaj College, and Sila Central High School.
Lesi said the students looked forward to pursuing their tertiary education at FNU.
“Our students were given the opportunity to directly obtain information from FNU. I must thank FNU’s Career Discovery Team for coming to our school and aligning our students to their prospective career paths.”
“FNU has allowed our students to be knowledgeable on what they can study when they progress to tertiary studies.
“The visit served as an eye-opener, and also as a learning curve for the students as most of them are completing their education here this year; they are left with a few months to find another school for Year 13, and with FNU coming in to introduce its courses, I am sure the students have better knowledge of what they are going to study later,” Lesi shared.
Davuilevu Methodist High School teacher, Sofeen Razia Begum believes career opportunities and awareness is very important.
“I would like to thank FNU for visiting and educating our children, and creating awareness,” Begum said.
“Awareness on career pathways is very important. It allows students to choose the right fields and become aware of their interests and abilities, and I believe FNU is giving them a great opportunity for future development and success in life.”
The high school visits commenced in the Central Division on 19 June and will continue until 30 June. This will be followed by the Western Division from 3-14 July, and the North from 17-28 July 2023.
Virtual sessions will be conducted for maritime schools in the first week of August.
