Sophie Temby, Counsellor (Development Cooperation) at the Australian High Commission, officially opens the Recording Studio.

Students at the Fiji National University’s (FNU), College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences (CMNHS) will benefit from lectures and practical demonstrations produced at the newly opened recording studio.

The recording studio features high technology recording equipment such as a smart screen TV, Logitech conferencing video camera, Bluetooth video conference presenter and group expansion microphone; Rapoo presenter with laser pointer; Remax digital voice recorder and high specification desktop computer which can be used by the lecturers and students.

The project was supported by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in support of the “Fiji National University (FNU), College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS) COVID-19 Response”.

Sophie Temby, Counsellor (Development Cooperation) at the Australian High Commission in Suva was Chief Guest at the opening.

Temby highlighted that the Australian Government, through DFAT, had a longstanding partnership with the University’s College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences.

“DFAT’s partnership with the College included support for the development of training curriculum to meet the health workforce training needs in the region, research, and the strengthening of innovative teaching approaches,” she stated.

“The launch of the recording studio is an important initiative that enhances online learning and provides better opportunities to students studying remotely.”

College of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences Dean, Dr William May highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic made people realise the value of online learning and the need to provide quality learning and teaching materials on virtual platforms

Dr May emphasised the new CMNHS recording studio will offer staff and students the opportunity to ensure innovative and quality online materials are produced to enhance their academic proficiency and capabilities

“This would not be possible without the support of DFAT, and we are very grateful to DFAT for the support that has made the establishment of the CMNHS Recording Studio possible.”

FNU is now accepting applications for Semester 1, 2023 studies.

Students interested join TVET courses at FNU can apply now for one of the 4,600 placements available through the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS).

Eligible students must obtain a pass in Year 12, Certificate I, Certificate II or secure a final offer letter for any Certificate Level III, IV or Diploma level 5 programmes offered at FNU.

For ease and quick process of admission and registration, FNU has dedicated Enrolment Centers to serve new and continuing students at the Nasinu, Derrick, Koronivia, Ba, Natabua, Namaka and Labasa campuses.

These centres have experienced staff from different divisions to quickly assist students with enrolment, IT requirements, and selection of study options.
