Maritime, regional, international schools and members of the public who wish to learn more about the Fiji National University’s (FNU) programmes and services available can participate in the FNU Virtual Open Days on 27-28 October 2022.
The Virtual Open Days this week is targeted at those who were unable to attend the two-day Open Day event held at the Nasinu, Natabua and Naduna campuses on Friday, 21 October.
Those who attended the Open Day can also participate virtually if they have further queries to clarify with College representatives.
The second day of the Open Day was held on Saturday, 22 October at Nasinu Campus only. Visitors included high school students, families, youth groups and members of the public.
The campus was bustling with College booths and support services proving information on programmes, financial assistance, and academic support for students.
FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Lyn Karstadt said the University was filled with smiles despite the weather.
She commended the University students and staff for putting together an exciting and informative two-day Open Day.
“The two days have been brilliant, and I really want to thank all my students and staff who have been wonderful, they have gone above and beyond to make this an informative and memorable experience for the students and families that have come to visit,” Prof Karstadt said.
The Vice-Chancellor said during the two-day affair, she had the opportunity to meet many prospective students.
“I would like to thank the schools that have made it possible for the students to attend.”
“It has been wonderful, and I look forward to seeing all of you again next year.”
Ahmadiyya Muslim College student, Harshika Sharma said she looked forward to studying at the Fiji National University.
“The teachers at my school said that FNU is the best institution to study; there are lots of people to help you succeed in your area of studies,” Sharma said.
“The Open Day was fun. It was exciting to see the models, experiments and innovation by the students on display.”
Sharma had submitted her application and received her Provisional Offer Letter for the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Management) programme.
“Ever since I was young, I used to tell my parents I want to be an Accountant and so I took advantage of the fact that I could attend the FNU Open Day and apply at the same time,” she said.
The University recorded 93 per cent of high schools and special needs school on mainland Viti Levu and Vanua Levu attending the two-day Open Day event.
In addition, vocational groups, religious and youth groups, professional bodies, communities and families also converged at the Nasinu Campus for Day 2.
The Vice-Chancellor also announced the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF) as winners of the Best Booth Exhibit whilst the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS) were the runners-up.
