Tuvalu National Inspired by Father to Pursue Accounting at FNU

The Fiji National University’s Open Day at Nasinu Campus brought together students from various schools, but for Lonise Hailey Aso, it was a particularly special occasion.

Originally from Vaitupu, Tuvalu, Aso’ is a Year 11 student at Dilkusha Methodist High School.

Aso’s visit was motivated by her family’s strong connection to FNU, with her father studying engineering at the College of Engineering & Technical, Vocational Education and Training (CETVET).

“I came to Fiji last year because I wanted to follow my father’s path,” Aso explained.

“Seeing the campus and the courses available was very inspiring.”

After touring the university, Aso expressed her interest in pursuing a career in accounting, a profession her family totally supports.

“My dad is a student here, and I look up to him so much,” she said.

“The facilities and programmes at FNU are amazing, and I would love to be part of them.”

Aso shared her visit to the College of Business booth also solidified her decision.
