At 49, Tarusila Sowakula Nagata proved that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. After 25 years away from tertiary education, she enrolled in Fiji National University’s Certificate in Film & Television.
What began as a retirement plan has turned into a powerful new chapter. From trembling on her first day in class to interning on the crew of Love Island, Tarusila has shown that courage and determination can open incredible doors.
“I vividly remember my first day in class. My hands were shaking as I touched the camera. Being an ‘old schoolgirl’, all this modern equipment was new to me. But I am deeply grateful to my lecturers and classmates, who encouraged me and helped me understand what once seemed impossible.”
Now, she plans to launch her own business, Grace Productions, dedicated to God’s grace, which she says has carried her this far.
“God’s grace has led me this far. He gave me purpose, even at 49. After raising my two wonderful sons and living most of my life in service to family, God showed me that it is never too late. My business will be dedicated to Him.”
Her message to other women is clear: “Don’t use age as a shield. If I can do it, so can you.”
