Tamoaieta Breaks Barriers

Nursing is often viewed as a female-dominated profession, but today Oteniera Tamoaieta is proudly challenging that perception.

The Kiribati national graduated with a Postgraduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing from FNU, marking a powerful moment of achievement and representation.

As the first in his family to pursue this field, Tamoaieta hopes to pave the way for his siblings and other young men in his community.

“Males can also be nurses, and I’ve seen many people in my country avoid this course because they believe it is a female profession,” he shared.

“I chose this profession because I am passionate about patient care.”

A true testament to courage, purpose, and breaking stereotypes.
