Namosi Secondary Students Inspired at FNU Open Day 2

Namosi Secondary School Principal Ilikena Tomasi

The second day of Fiji National University’s Open Day 2025 welcomed students and staff from Namosi Secondary School, led by Principal Ilikena Tomasi.

Mr Tomasi said his school left early in the morning to be among the first to arrive at the Nasinu Campus, describing the visit as a valuable opportunity for his students.

“My vision is for our students to excel in life, gain employment, and make the most of opportunities beyond the classroom,” he said. “I believe FNU is a doorway for them to further their studies, identify career pathways, and prepare for the future.”

Coming from a rural school surrounded by mountains, the Namosi students were eager to explore the different programmes on offer. Mr Tomasi emphasised that Open Day allows young people to realise their potential and understand that there are pathways available after Year 12 and Year 13, instead of returning to the village without qualifications.

He added that recent scholarship opportunities, such as those presented to his students earlier in the week, show the support available to help them succeed.

“With exams approaching, today’s experience will motivate our students to work harder, knowing what is waiting for them after school,” he said.
