A sense of pride and joy filled the air today as Aiyaz Hussein watched his son, Arif Khan, graduate from the Fiji National University (FNU).
Hussein, who traveled all the way from Lalakoro in Seaqaqa, Labasa, was there to witness Arif earn his Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Agriculture, from the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF).
“Today, my day started differently than usual. Normally, I wake up early to tend to my sugarcane fields, but today was different,” Hussein said.
“When I woke up this morning and saw Arif getting dressed, my eyes welled with tears. It was a powerful mix of pride and happiness, knowing that my son has achieved something he started pursuing three years ago.”
Arif’s journey from the sugarcane fields of Lalakoro to the halls of FNU embodies the dreams of many young Fijians striving for a better future through education.
