Dr Sungeun Yang from South Korea is one of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) graduate that graduated from the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at the Fiji National University.

Having lived in Fiji for the past fourteen years, Dr Sungeun describes the island nation as a “second home,” a place filled with memories, growth, and community.

“It feels nice getting recognised and just graduating in Fiji. I don’t think I could have made it this far without my family. My friends helped, yes, but my family… they were everything.”

Reflecting on the challenges and triumphs of medical school, the graduate emphasises that the journey was never walked alone.

“If I look back, it wasn’t me—it was all God’s plan. So, my advice to children or anyone coming after us is this: trust in God, and He will lead you on the right path.”
