Unit Name: Introduction to iTaukei Orature

Description: This unit aims to Introduce students to orature studies and provide students with a framework with which to analyse orature content. It will also sensitize students on the cultural and academic aspects of orature, indigenous culture and traditional knowledge. The unit also introduces the students to the theoretical approaches to the study of oral literature. It deals with the role of theory in the study of oral literature and its application in the analysis of oral literature material. Methods of collecting, recording and storing oral literature material will also be explored.
