Unit Name: Introduction to Basic Surgical Procedures, Anaesthesia, Analgesia & Physiotherapy

Description: The topics in the course will include the definition history, scope, classification of veterinary surgery and related terminology, role of paraveterinarian and legislations governing their roles; asepsis, antisepsis, sterilization, disinfection and aseptic techniques; preoperative consideration and pre-, peri- and postoperative care and management of surgical patients; hemorrhage and control; wound, wound complication management, dressing and bandaging techniques; First aid basic principles, rules, purpose, procedures and related types emergencies; suture material and suture techniques for skin and minor surgery; common cutaneous surgical conditions, their management and surgical procedures; dental and oral surgery; common surgical affections of ear, eye and urogenital organs; physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation in animals.
