Unit Name: Disaster Management

Description: This course is being introduced to recognize the increasing vulnerability of the planet in general and Fiji in particular to disasters. This unit is expected would create a basis to work towards preparedness and also help us develop a culture of safety and prevention. The adoption of a disaster risk reduction perspective. These need to be understood and addressed if disaster impacts are to be minimized. There has been a considerable policy level intervention in recent years.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: a. Analyse the planning for disaster plan and emergency (GPIA-1, GPIA-2, GPIA-3) b. Criticise community risk assessment (GPIA-3, GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6) c. Evaluate the plan for disaster and lesson learn (GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7) d. Apply the communication and information management (GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7, GPIA-8)
