Unit Name: Planning Studio II

Description: This unit is continuation of Planning Studio I, the course aims to strengthen students’ capability to make planning. Students will do finalize the concept and generate master plan, strategic planning and action plan and completed with program indication. At the end of this course students will do seminar presentation to industry. As practical course, this course aims are: (1) students should be able to work in a variety of environments and deliver high standards of conduct, ethical behaviour and ability relevant to the circumstances. Planners need to be able to act competently in complex and responsible ways and in a professional and ethical manner while in the pursuit of understanding, promoting and actively seeking public benefits (CPIA1), (2) produce plans of various types, selecting the techniques, approaches and tools appropriate to the task and situation, including the ability to subsequently implement plans in the particular circumstances of a place. Planners allocate land uses and manage the process of land use change. Planners undertake the preparation of plans to implement design concepts and establish the pattern and form of development (CPIA2), (3) work within a statutory framework in the development, implementation and administration of statutory plans, policies and regulations (CPIA3), (4) take a collaborative role in the production and implementation of economic development plans and strategies, whether these are discrete economic plans, components of other plans, or by providing economic planning analyses of others’ plans or actions (SPIA1), (5) take a collaborative role in the production and implementation of environmental plans, whether these are discrete plans, components of other plans, or by providing environmental planning analyses of others’ plans or actions (SPAI2), (6) take a collaborative role in the production and implementation of social and cultural plans, whether these are discrete social plans, components of other plans, or by providing social planning analyses of others’ plans or actions (SPAI3),(7) take a collaborative role in the production and implementation of transport plans, whether these are discrete plans, components of other plans, or by providing planning analyses of others’ plans or actions (SPAI4), and (8) take a collaborative role in the production and implementation of urban design plans, whether these are discrete urban design documents or components of other plans, or by providing urban design analyses of others’ plans or actions. (SPAI5).

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: a. Generate master plan concept for each theme (GPIA-1, GPIA-2, GPIA-3, GPIA-4) b. Synthesis future plan (GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7) c. Apply some analytical method to justify priority area (GPIA-3, GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7) d. Utilize strategic planning (GPIA-3, GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7) e. Structure strategic planning and action plan (GPIA-3, GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7) f. Conduct seminar presentation and maintain public opinion (GPIA-8, GPIA-9, GPIA-10)
