Unit Name: Spatial Behavior

Description: This course is being introduced to recognize the aspects of spatial behaviour of people in cites - perception and cognitive spatial representation - are related to urban morphology and the properties of the urban environment. The spatial behaviour of people, as individuals and social groups, will be analysed and discuss with respect to the following domains: way finding, selection of movement routes, pedestrian and vehicles movement patterns, accidents risk, land use patterns, emergence of retail centres, social segregation and crime in the city

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: a. Analyse the pattern of society, space and behaviour (GPIA-1, GPIA-2, GPIA-3) b. Generate decision making and choice behaviour (GPIA-4, GPIA-5) c. Evaluate social and demographic change (GPIA-3) d. Perform urban patterns and trends (GPIA-2, GPIA-3) e. Investigate perception, attitudes and risk (GPIA-2, GPIA-3) f. Spatial cognition, cognitive mapping and cognitive maps (GPIA-3, GPIA-4, GPIA-5) g. Activity analysis in travel and transportation modelling (GPIA-3, GPIA-5)
