Unit Name: Law and Planning Administration

Description: The unit is designed for the students to understand legal aspects of planning, governmental principles, planning administration and all the aspects of underpinning planning. Capacity to interpret and use relevant acts and case law and to undertake typical plan-making and implementation with regards to planning law. The aims of this course are the students have: (1) knowledge of wider legal and related governmental principles and frameworks underpinning planning (CPIA3-01) (2) knowledge of statutory processes associated with plan-making, implementation and administration (CPIA3-02) (3) knowledge of the principles of legal interpretation and drafting (CPIA3-03) (4) knowledge of the operation of appeal systems including the role of courts and tribunals including the role of expert evidence (CPIA3-04) (5) capacity to act in typical planning roles utilising planning law understandings, such as the provision of basic advice regarding fundamental principles to non-planners (CPIA3-05) (6) capacity to interpret and use relevant acts and case law and to undertake typical plan-making and implementation actions with regard to planning law (CPIA3-06) (7) capacity to develop implementable planning regulations and policies (CPIA3-07)

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: a. Differentiate the administrative law (GPIA-1) b. Evaluate the function of central government and legislation (GPIA-3) c. Redress of grievance (GPIA-3, GPIA-4) d. Evaluate administrative authorities in litigation and public corporation (GPIA-3, GPIA-4) e. Redress through the courts or administrative tribunal and inquiries (GPIA-4, GPIA-6) f. Generate the local government administrative authorities and the systems (GPIA-4, GPIA-6)
