Unit Code: URP712

Unit Name: Infrastructure Planning

Description: The course is given so that the students will be able to understand and master the basic consideration in planning urban and regional infrastructure. Urban infrastructure emphasizes in this course consists of clean water, electrical, telephone, gas/energy, drainage, waste, road infrastructure. While the regional infrastructure is more to the irrigation system, dam and flood control buildings. In this course, students will deal with the introductory process of planning, finance, programming, and infrastructure management stages. This process starts from introduction to urban and regional elements through observation and secondary data study; problem formulation through the study of field observation, secondary data study and interview. The general aims for this course are (1) students have capacity to produce basic infrastructure plans at a level demonstrating understanding of broader principles and policy implementation (SPIA2-03), (2) students have the capability to gather qualitative and quantitative data relevant to the infrastructure planning circumstances, even if incomplete, to analyse it and to communicate its relevance and any shortcomings of findings appropriately (CPIA2-08).

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: a. Apply the process of sustainable engineering design (GPIA-1, GPIA-4) b. Analyze the framework of sustainable infrastructure (GPIA-2, GPIA-3, GPIA-5, GPIA6) c. Apply the concept of sustainable resources system (GPIA-4) d. Design major infrastructure system (GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7, GPIA8) e. Design the application of infrastructure planning (GPIA-4, GPIA-5, GPIA-6, GPIA-7, GPIA8)
