Unit Name: Land Management and Control

Description: This course discuss land problems and matter, basic concept of land management, various instrument of land management and development also basic concept and technique of land use control especially in Fiji and South Pacific. The objectives of this course are: (1) Students have knowledge of land management theory and capacity to critically apply this theory as a framework for undertaking planning (CPIA2-02), (2) Knowledge and theories of urban and regional planning and systems, including principles of land use, urban form, infrastructure, natural systems, transport, the integration of land use and transport, heritage conservation, landscape and human settlement patterns (CPIA2-03), (3) students understand the key legal principles and practices in plan making and implementation of land management and control (CPIA2-05), and (4) students have capacity to review, evaluate and monitor plans and planning processes (CPIA2-10).

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: a. Generate the framework for land administration and land management (GPIA-1, GPIA3) b. Analyze social organization of land use (GPIA-3) c. Analyze land tenure, property and development of land in South Pacific (GPIA-2, GPIA-3) d. Evaluate land value and fiscal cadastre (GPIA-3, GPIA-5) e. Diagnose land information management (GPIA-3, GPIA-5) f. Evaluate land administration process in Fiji and South Pacific (GPIA-3, GPIA-5)
