Unit Name: Exploring Self in Vanua Leadership

Description: Introduction to Vanua Leadership is designed to equip leaders at each level of the traditional hierarchy with adequate competencies to engage with their roles in society. The course aims to provide an understanding and appreciation of the social structures where roles are clearly prescribed and the nature of relationships with the community are shaped. Order is maintained and promoted when leaders know their place in the social hierarchy and treat their roles as sacred. The course hopes to produce leaders who are transformed by the knowledge, skills and values rooted in the sacredness of the indigenous Fijian culture after engaging in in-depth exchange of knowledge and exploring pathways for solutions to contemporary issues. In addition, this course uses the principles of Self-lead to promote self-awareness on leadership within oneself as a way to prepare the individuals to delve deeper into understanding their role as leaders in the community.
