Description: This course is designed to introduce students to general office administration, ethical behaviour and an introduction to work place Health and safety procedures and practices.
Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify the Intent and purpose of the HASAW Act of 1996, Regulations and Codes of practice. 2. Develop a positive attitude to Occupational Health & Safety. 3. Identify the 5 different categories of hazards that exist in workplaces. 4. Have the basic skill to assess hazards and the control that can be taken. 5. To build your understanding of universal ideas on ethics & governance. 6. To give you practice in identifying ethical issues in real-life situations. 7. To make you more self-aware, self-disciplined & morally responsible for the decisions you make in life. 8. Understand insurance and types applicable to the profession, especially Professional Indemnity Insurance. 9. Have knowledge of proper office operations, record keeping, time keeping and job charges. 10. Have knowledge of proper office operations, record keeping, time keeping and job charges. 11. To have a basic understanding of general office administration especially record keeping, wage or salary calculation, insurance and government tax. 12. Understand the Code of Ethics for Surveyors in Fiji and the requirements to be a Registered Surveyor.
