Unit Name: Research Methodologies (Compulsory)

Description: This course will help students to have an overview of the research process. This course will also impart knowledge to identify a relevant research problem, and how to survey the literature. Students will also get ideas about how to make sampling design, how to analyse data and finally, improve their presentation and written research proposal.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Discuss and evaluate the philosophy of the different research types (social and scientific), problem identification and evaluate the various sampling designs and methods. 2. Conduct a literature review and critical analysis for the selected research topic, using library resources and present this using international standards of citation. 3. Generate a research proposal and apply hands-on experience in data processing, data analysis and interpretation, using selected statistical calculations and programs and hypothesis testing. 4. Create and present oral presentations and provide report on research proposals with appropriate methodologies and techniques based on identified problems or issues of interest.

Prerequisite: Minimum GPA of 3.0 in any undergraduate degree
