Unit Name: Soil Fertility, Fertilizers and Agrochemicals

Description: Soil as a source of plant nutrients, introduction to soil fertility, mechanism of nutrient uptake, factors affecting nutrient availability to plants, plant nutrient elements, primary macro nutrients, secondary nutrients, and nitrogenous phosphatic and potassic fertilizers. Bio-fertilizer, soil microorganisms and soil fertility. Micronutrients measures to overcome deficiencies and toxicities of nutrients. Soil fertility evaluation methods, methods of fertilizer application ,balance use of fertilizers, management of problematic soils, management of problematic soils Nutrient use efficiency and fertilizer movement in soil fertilizer application and its effect on environment and soil quality IPNS ,INM & fertilizer management ,nutrient status of Fiji soils, organic manures and agrochemicals .
