Unit Name: Sanitation & Drainage Practice

Description: This unit includes a wide variety of materials and components currently in used in Fiji. Upon completion of this unit the students will be able to complete the construction of above ground installation with standards and specification and select standard tests for above ground installations for Sanitary Systems. Overall it provides the students with basic knowledge in the above ground drainage, sanitary appliances, fittings and pipe sizing and relevant expertise required for standard installations.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify the materials and how they should be handled during the practical installation. 2. Explain to determine gradients or falls for small or large installations using appropriate methods. 3. Explain the installations of appliances for above ground on various stack systems 4. Describe Tests on the completed installation of sanitation and drainage pipe work. 5. Describe the knowledge of the main provisions of the building regulations and standard code of practice and specifications relating to all sanitary pipe works.
