Unit Name: Foundation Skills

Description: This unit specifies the outcomes require the ability to accept instructions, work with others, plan activities and perform tasks, as well as participate in workplace planning and meetings. Working safely on construction sites where the work activity involves working above 1.5 metres from ground level and where fall protection measures are required. Communicate effectively through oral, visual and written means of communication to facilitate safe work practices. Safely handle and store plumbing materials and use commonly used hand and power tools in plumbing work applications.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Compare the scope of plumbing trade within the construction and service industry. 2. Explain safe working procedures on heights and safety checks. 3. Develop skills for effective communication techniques underpinning work in the plumbing industry. 4. Explain the safe handling and store plumbing materials, tools, equipment and basic first aid in the workplace. 5. Describe basic first aid in the workplace.
