Unit Name: Fire Control Services

Description: This unit specifies the outcomes install sprinkler heads, system controls and ancillary equipment for sprinkler fire protection systems. Install distribution and range pipes to carry all commonly used fire extinguishing agents, above and below ground. Install portable fire extinguishers, fire blankets and signage. Connect static storage tanks to fixed fire protection systems. Install control valve assemblies, actuating devices and local alarms for fire protection systems in commercial, industrial, residential and domestic situations.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Explain and understand the installation requirements and testing of all fire protection systems 2. Relate Knowledge and understanding of the installation of extinguishers and fire blankets 3. Explain the functions of control valves and devices for fire protection systems. 4. Explain Knowledge of static tank installation of fire services. 5. Explain Installations/maintenance as per local authority by-laws.
