Unit Code: PSM325

Unit Name: Trade Calculation

Description: The unit is concerned with the practical application of mathematics as a basis for efficient and economic Trade Practice. Upon the completion of this unit, the student will be able to apply the law of indices to simple algebraic equations, use logarithms with products, quotients and powers, and apply formulae to calculate the area, volume and surface area of regular and irregular shapes, solve quadratic equations by different methods, solve simultaneous equations by different methods, and use trigonometric functions to solve industry practical problems. More Calculation on directly related construction aspects of practical application is an impact on the Unit.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Relate algebraic processes and trigonometric ratios to solve problems. 2. Calculate (of) area and volume. 3. Relate sine and cosine rules to solve problems 4. Relate geometrical techniques to solve craft problems. 5. Explain the laws of indices and logarithms in algebraic manipulation.
