Unit Name: Gas and Arc Welding

Description: This unit is essential practical element with a good understanding of safety procedures, quality control and proper working practices concerned with welding and fabrication techniques applied in the construction industry. As for any trade, the Welding and fabrication is integrated aspect whereby it is associated with Plumbing and sheetmetal at industrial constructions, etc.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Express the knowledge to understand the safety procedures and precautions when using compressed gasses. 2. Check, Identify and Operate standard types of welding equipment. 3. Identify and recognize the correct flame structure for various welding operations and select the correct electrode and filler rod and methods for Welding plastic materials. 4. Check and identify and able to carry out fusion welding, braze welding and cutting of metals. 5. Record and prepares a checklist to inspect the quality of various welds, identify faults and specify corrective procedures.
