Unit Name: Cold Water Theory A

Description: The purpose of this unit is to train student to understand the relevant Local Water Bye-Laws and Regulations, including the Functional requirements and working Principles of each type of Cold Water Systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Identify and classify water and its sources of supply and types of treatment required. 2. Express basic knowledge of the requirements of the relevant model and local water bye-laws. 3. Identify to calculate basic pressure (calculations) related to water. Solve problems involving distance, time, velocity and acceleration. 4. Explain basic knowledge of different types of mains, service pipes, taps, valves and other components used and relevant pipes and fittings used for respective installations. 5. Express the knowledge to draw up a scheme for the cold water installation for a small commercial or large domestic installation by specifications and codes of practice.
