Unit Name: Introduction to Bearings

Description: The purpose of this unit is to enable the development of elementary knowledge and skills required for the installation and maintenance of Bearings, Lubrication and Seals. It covers the selection, fitting, removal, examine, repair, and installation of plain and anti-friction bearings. The types of lubrication systems, lubricants and the effects of speed, load and temperature on the lubrication system. Select and install the appropriate filters, gaskets and seals. The unit Introduces preventive and corrective maintenance of bearings and seals found in industrial equipment?s. It Includes sleeve bearings, roller bearings, sealing and lubrication practices for bearings. Also included are different types of filters used in Industrial Engineering. Also covered are the highlights on the use of equipment and lubricant manufacturers' specifications, equipment history and equipment maintenance logs.
