Unit Code: PME301

Unit Name: Electro Plant

Description: This unit provides the basic knowledge and skills of the science of electricity for engineering trade trainees. It covers the basic principle of DC and AC electrical wiring when exposed to domestic and industrial applications, calculations for current and voltage in a given circuit and an engineering specialization to wide practical procedures and practices and the termination of single-phase and three-phase electrical motors.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: 1. Exercise safe working practices when working with electrical equipment. 2. Describe the principles of basic electrical wiring when exposed to domestic and industrial applications. 3. Compare and relate basic calculations for current and voltage in a given circuit. 4. Apply knowledge when terminating single and three phase electrical motors. Apply general servicing of motors and small generators.
