Unit Code: PHY608
Unit Name: Modern Physics
Description: The purpose of this unit is to introduce students to the concepts of modern Physics which began in 1900 with Max Planck?s discovery of the role of energy quantization in blackbody radiation, a revolutionary idea soon followed by Albert Einstein?s equally revolutionary theory of relativity and quantum theory of light. This unit aims to provide students with a clear and logical presentation of the basic concepts and principles of Modern Physics and to strengthen the understanding through a broad range of interesting applications to the real world. Practical models will be used to enhance the theoretical concepts studied in lectures.
