Unit Name: Functional Anatomy 2

Description: This course establishes the student knowledge of functional anatomy which is appropriate in the professional work of Physiotherapy. Coverage will include regional anatomy of the lower limbs, back and abdominal region. Anatomical study of the cardio-vascular, respiratory. The course will be the foundational anatomy course for the respective specialist courses in the later years of study. Topics include functional anatomy of the : • lower limbs muscles, bones, nerve, vascular supply, and lymphatic drainages. • Cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate a high knowledge of muscular and functional anatomy of the lower limb, abdominal, and back region 2. Demonstrate a high knowledge of skeletal anatomy and functional anatomy of the lower limb, back and abdominal region 3. Identify anatomy of the vascular supply of the lower limb, back and abdominal region 4. Understand joints, ligaments, bursaes of the lower limbs, back and abdominal region. 5. Identify lymphatic drainage of the lower limb, back and abdominal region 6. Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge nervous anatomy of the lower limb, abdominal and back 7. Demonstrate anatomical understanding of the Cardiovascular system 8. Demonstrate a high knowledge of Anatomy of the Respiratory system. 9. Develop problem solving skills and a capacity for independent reflective learning and critical thinking skills in functional anatomy
