Unit Name: Programme Management in Sexual and Reproductive Health

Description: This is a core course which provides deeper insight and understanding of SRH programme management using the strategic management cycle. Students will synthesize and analyze SRH current situation, evidence based on data, priority setting for interventions and key aspects of SRH programme implementation and monitoring, with particular focus on family planning. Students will demonstrate understanding of SRH strategic and corporate planning, and how this translates to individual work plans at the level of SRH services and program management. Students will also critique family planning uptake appraise and supplies of SRH commodities using data; identify and distinguish SRH data collection from SRH data sources, its collation and reporting; and calculate the key SRH indicators using routinely collected data. Students will interpret the meaning of key SRH indicators and their links to programme prioritization and planning. Students will analyze the WHO Framework of Quality of Care for improved maternal health and reproductive health. The course includes the clinical attachment to the Oxfam wellness clinic in Suva, designated health centers in Fiji and the Fiji Pharmaceutical Services which provided avenues to reinforce the required competencies. The students will also discuss the Graduate Attributes of the PGD SRH programme.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, student will be able to: 1. Synthesize and analyze SRH strategic management cycle, SRH strategic and corporate planning, and individual SRH work plan. 2. Prioritize SRH interventions based on SRH data, reports and other sources of information. 3. Demonstrate the understanding of SRH status using existing data and SRH indicators 4. Conduct SRH practical sessions to attain the required programme management competencies including practicum in specific SRH interventions
