Unit Name: Health Project Planning & Development

Description: Understanding key concepts of project management will allow for effective planning, implementing, managing, monitoring and evaluating projects. PBH804 will allow students to acquire skills in these areas together with the knowledge about the project phases and its organizations and key players. Essential skills such as risk identification and how these are managed will also be taught. The concepts of this course are relevant to all projects regardless of their size and complexity. Knowledge and skills acquired will be reinforced with the inclusion of practical attachments and the expectation of students to develop reports and project proposals .Other assessments of the course will ensure that the intended course outcome is achieved.

Learning Target Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the students will be able to: 1. Distinguish the various concepts and theories related to public health interventions. 2. Provide understanding of project planning, stakeholders and the phases of project life cycles. 3. Demonstrate understanding of project progress and performance management. 4. Apply risks identification skills and management. 5. Demonstrate knowledge of project closure.
